Assistant Chief Hill was born in Allentown, and lived in Emmaus and New Tripoli, graduating from Northwestern Lehigh Jr/Sr High School in 1985. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving as both a communications center operator, then an assault man with the Dragon weapons system, and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. Currently, Captain Hill is enrolled at DeSales University, working to obtain his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology.
Hill started with the Allentown Police Department in April 1993 and spent the majority of his career on patrol, with a brief six-month assignment to the vice unit. Hill has been a member of the department’s Honor Guard since 1994, performing ceremonial color presentations at City events, as well as paying final respects to fallen officers.
In October 2001, Hill was promoted to Sergeant and assigned to the 4th platoon. He was a member of the department’s Emergency Response Team, but relinquished that position to take over the department’s K9 unit, as well as being the handler for K9 Axel.
Hill has served on various platoons during his career, however, the majority of his time was on some version of night shift. In 2016 Hill was promoted to Lieutenant and given command of the 3rd Platoon. And, in March 2018 he was promoted to Captain and assigned PSA-3.
In June 2021, Hill was promoted to Assistant Chief of Operations
