Criminal Investigations

Also known as the Detective Bureau, CID is responsible for conducting follow-up investigations into all homicides, and the vast majority of serious crimes committed within the City of Allentown. The Detectives are veteran police officers who work tirelessly to bring closure to crime victims and their families.

The various roles of CID include investigating criminal offenses and arresting offenders; and, gathering, packaging and submitting evidence into departmental custody. Much time is spent preparing cases for trial and attending judicial proceedings. Finally, Detectives must submit required reports, documenting investigations and dispositions of cases.

The Allentown Police Department is committed to helping you prevent Identity Theft, one of the fastest growing crimes nationwide. If you are a victim, please contact Police Desk 610-437-7753 for filing a report.
