Love Your Block

About

In May 2024, Allentown was one of 16 cities awarded $100,000 to participate in the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation’s Love Your Block grant program. Love Your Block funds resident-led neighborhood revitalization projects in U.S. cities. From transforming vacant lots into community gardens to repairing playground equipment to removing trash and debris from a public right of way, the program supports cities as it enables residents to design, develop, and deliver programs and policies that improve communities.

Now Accepting 2026 Applications for Franklin Park!

This Love Your Block cycle supports residents in transforming their front porches into welcoming spaces that encourage neighbor connection and stronger community ties. Projects focus on improving the appearance and function of these spaces.

Awarded projects will engage volunteers to work alongside residents to complete improvements like painting, cleaning, and installing items such as seating, planters, lighting, house numbers, and decor. To ensure projects remain accessible, Love Your Block funds are limited to materials and supplies needed to complete projects. Projects must be completed by residents and volunteers, not professional labor. Specialized work (e.g., roofing, electrical, concrete) is not eligible.

All projects must be within Franklin Park.

The City of Allentown will obtain or purchase all supplies for the projects. Applicants will not receive funds directly. The City, however, reserves the right to adjust the purchasing approach on a case-by-case basis.
