The Rental Unit Registration & Inspection program makes sure homes and buildings in Allentown follow safety rules set by the city.
If you rent out a house or apartment in Allentown, you must register it with the city by law. To do this, fill out a form, have an inspection from Residential Property Inspections, and if everything's okay, you'll get a rental license.
Owners of rental properties need to renew their license every year, and it stays valid for that calendar year. They'll get a bill to renew their license by December 31st, and it costs $75 per unit. There are extra fees if it's paid late.
Additionally, owners have to display the Owner and Occupant Duties document in every rental unit they own.
If there's a complaint with a property, you can call Residential Property Inspections at (610) 437-7694.
If you would like to report a Disruptive Tenant, Disruptive Conduct Reports (DCRs) are given by the Police Department or other public officers to tenants whose actions cause trouble and disturb others in their homes. If there are three of these reports within a year, it may lead to the tenant being evicted.
