Before selling a home, it must undergo a safety and maintenance inspection to meet city standards outlined in the Allentown Property Rehabilitation and Maintenance Code. This inspection ensures the property is safe and follows zoning rules.
When selling your property:
- Follow the Pre-Sale Inspection Procedure.
- Fill out the Request a Pre-Sales Inspection form. Inspectors will schedule a visit. If it passes, you get a Certificate of Compliance before the sale. If code violations are found, you'll need to fix them, unless the buyer agrees to do so.
- If the buyer agrees to fix the issues, complete the Acceptance Form.
Once the sale is finalized:
Submit a Buyer's Information Report within three days of settlement, either by you or your real estate agent.
