The yard waste site will officially open for the 2025 season on Saturday, April 5th.
From April 5th until November 22nd, the site will be open on the following days:
- Saturdays, from 8:00am to 2:00pm
- Wednesdays, from 8:00am to 4:00pm
Only Allentown residents allowed. Contractors/landscapers may not use this site.
Accepted materials:

- Weeds
- Flowers
- Hedge Trimmings
- Leaves
- Branches
Not accepted:
-
- Dirt, Soil, Compost, Sod
- Rocks, Stones, Concrete/Cement, etc.
- Flower Pots
- Wood, Lumber, Railroad Ties, Fencing, etc.
- Bamboo (call the Recycling Office for disposal instructions)
- Trash, Construction Debris
Mulch Loading Services: April - November Wednesdays, 8:00 am - 11:00 am
Pre-paid fee: $12 per bucket load (approx. one cubic yard). Pay in advance at Recycling & Solid Waste office. Payment: 641 S. 10th Street, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. No payments accepted at the yard waste site.
Free self-loading available during Drop Off hours
Curbside Collection of Yard Waste:
- Can be placed out in either brown paper lawn bags or rigid containers (no larger than 32 gallons).
- Please place Yard Waste stickers on rigid containers being used for collection. Stickers are available for pickup at the Recycling Office, or request by mail by calling 610-437-8729.
- Yard waste will NOT be accepted in plastic bags or Allentown recycling bins.
Changes coming to curbside collection in 2025!
From April 6th to May 30th
- Collected every week, on the same night as your recycling night.
New rules effective June 1st
- Collected every other week.
- Most residents will continue to place out on their recycling night EXCEPT for Sunday night recyclers, who will now place yard waste out on Wednesday nights.
- If your yard waste collection is canceled due to a holiday, place your yard waste out on the City’s next collection night (i.e. if Wednesday night is canceled, place out on Thursday night).
