The Start of the 2024 Yard Waste Season

The yard waste site on Oxford Dr will open for the 2024 season on Wednesday, April 3rd.
Curbside yard waste collection will begin the week of April 7th.

 


 

Yard Waste Site Hours of Operations
1401 Oxford Dr. (Oxford Dr. & Fish Hatchery Rd.)

The 2024 season will run from Wednesday, April 3 to Saturday, November 23.
The site will be open on the following days, weather and holiday permitting:

Wednesday 8:00am - 4:00pm
Saturday 8:00am - 2:00pm

 

The Yard Waste Site is available for use by CITY OF ALLENTOWN RESIDENTS ONLY
Contractors and Landscapers are NOT permitted to use this site.

We accept only the following organic material:

  • Grass
  • Weeds
  • Flowers
  • Hedge Trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Branches

We DO NOT accept the following:

  • Dirt, Soil, Compost, Sod
  • Rocks, Stones, Concrete/Cement, etc.
  • Flower Pots
  • Wood, Lumber, Railroad Ties, Fencing, etc.
  • Bamboo (call the Recycling Office for disposal instructions)
  • Trash, Construction Debris

 


MULCH

The City is offering mulch loading services for pick-up trucks and open top trailers for pre-paid fee of $12 per bucket load (approximately one cubic yard).

2024 Mulch Loading Schedule
Wednesday, April 3 through Wednesday, November 20
8:00 am - 11:00am

YOU MUST PRE-PAY FOR MULCH LOADING SERVICES.
Payment must be made at the Bureau of Recycling & Solid Waste, 641 S. 10th Street, prior to loading. The office accepts payments Monday-Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm. No payments will be accepted at the yard waste site. There are various grades of mulch and top dressings, however, the City cannot guarantee the quality or quantity available.
Self-loading of material is FREE during Drop Off hours only. 

 


 

2024 CURBSIDE YARD WASTE COLLECTION

Curbside yard waste collection will begin the week of April 7, 2024
and will end the week of Thanksgiving, November 24 - 29, 2024.

Yard waste should be placed out on your recycling night during the regular season:
  1. Yard waste such as grass, branches, trimmings, etc. should be placed in a rigid container, a brown paper lawn bag, or bundled and tied. 
  2. Do not use a City-issued recycling bin for yard waste collection. You must purchase your own container that is 32 gallons or less. The filled container should not weigh more than 70 pounds.
  3. Please place yard waste stickers on your container. Stickers are available for pick up at the Recycling Office, or they can be mailed to you. Brown bags do not need a yard waste sticker.
  4. Branches should be 4 inches or less in diameter, and no more than 6 feet in length.
  5. Do not place yard waste out in plastic bags.
  6. NO LITTER OR TRASH MIXED WITH YARD WASTE.
