The Allentown Police Department Youth & Community Services Division recognizes the importance of reading as it relates to the successful education of the youth in our community. One way to show our commitment is to participate in reading events sponsored by local schools and organizations. These events include Book Blasts at our local elementary schools, participating in book drives for children and partnering with Lehigh Valley Cops N Kids.

Cops N Kids encourages positive relationships between children and police and ensures that every child has access to books and the knowledge, inspiration and hope that such access can provide. In the past year Allentown Police officers have established relationships with classrooms and children in seven elementary schools and we hope for that number to continue to grow. Additionally in 2015 Allentown police officers organized their first book-drive which benefited Union Terrace Elementary in the City of Allentown.
