Schreiber's Bridge Closed One Week for Repairs

Work will be performed beginning Wednesday, April 25 on the replacement of the damaged wingwall located at the northwest corner of Schreiber’s Bridge in Allentown.

Schreiber’s Bridge is the stone arch bridge that crosses Little Lehigh Creek and is located at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Lehigh Parkway East.

The work is anticipated to take approximately one week. During this period the bridge will be closed to all vehicles. Motorists are encouraged to use the 15th Street Bridge in lieu of Schreiber’s Bridge for crossing of Little Lehigh Creek.

The project also includes repair of the handrails and the parapets.

The project began last fall. It was always anticipated that the wingwall replacement work would be performed this spring.

The work is being performed by Professional Construction Contractors, Inc. of Easton at a cost of just more than $68,000.
