Groundbreaking Held for Youell's Oyster House
Ground was broken this morning for the new Youell's Oyster House at 23rd & Walnut streets in Allentown.

The original Youell's, which came to Allentown in 1992, was destroyed by fire in January.  A new 150 seat restaurant, including a mezzanine level for private functions, is expected to be completed in January of next year

Proprietor Christian Filipos told the more than 50 people in attendance that he was grateful for all the support from his patrons, the community and in the wake of the tragedy.

Mayor Ed Pawlowski said he was happy that Youell's was returning to the area and looks forward to the re-opening.

A rendering of the new facility includes wood and brick exterior walls.

Youell's originally opened on Northampton Street in Easton in 1925.  It later moved to Cattell Street on Easton's College Hill before relocating to Allentown.
