The Eighth Street Bridge in the city of Allentown will be closed to traffic from 9am to 3pm on Monday, April 11, Wednesday, April 13 and Friday, April 15, weather permitting, to accommodate bridge reconstruction.

A more than $18MM project began in May 2014 to rehabilitate the Eighth Street/Albertus L. Meyers Bridge that traverses the Little Lehigh Creek, Norfolk Southern Rail Road, Harrison Street, Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Fountain Park.

For the duration of the project the southbound travel lane on the bridge is closed and detoured.

Ninth Street in the city will be reduced to one lane from Hamilton Street to Linden Street on Saturday, April 9 from 6am to 6pm for a crane to set up and install transformers for PPL.
