Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski today announced the appointment of John Marchetto as the city’s new Human Resources Manager.

Marchetto, a resident of Macungie, has been with the city since 2005 as Associate City Solicitor. His duties included a focus on employment and labor law covering approximately 750 union and non-union employees, inclusive of collective bargaining and arbitration and workman’s compensation and unemployment compensation matters.

“John’s experience as associate city solicitor with an emphasis on labor and labor contract issues will be invaluable to the city in his new position,” said Pawlowski.” He has worked closely with the human resources department on countless issues during his tenure with the city. He will be an excellent leader of the city’s H-R efforts.

Marchetto said, “I look forward to continuing to serve the administration and the citizens of Allentown in my new capacity leading the Human Resources team. The employees are complete professionals, which should make for a seamless transition. I thank Mayor Pawlowski for his confidence and trust in me.”

Marchetto, who began his new duties today, succeeds Amy Trapp. He will earn $95,000 annually.
