S. Albert St. Bridge Replacement Beginning

The South Albert Street Bridge replacement project will begin on Tuesday, September 23. The bridge over Trout Creek was damaged during Hurricane Irene in August 2011.

FEMA funding was sought and acquired to replace the original bridge. Since the original bridge was a single lane structure, city funds will be used to supplement the FEMA allotment to enlarge the bridge to provide two-lane traffic. The work is expected to be completed this year.

The bridge will be constructed by DESSCO, Design and Construction, Inc. out of Fleetwood, PA. The construction contract amount is $377,079.80. The FEMA funding for the construction is $234,896.00. The balance of the contract will be city funds.
