The contractor for the Eighth Street Bridge rehabilitation project will be performing remediation work on the bridge where it passes over the area of Harrison Street. A portion of Harrison Street will be closed beginning July 14 and will remain closed for approximately two to three weeks. The closed portion of Harrison Street will extend from just west of the Eighth Street overpass to Lehigh Street.

The Harrison Street detour will direct traffic past Harrison Street south on Lehigh Street, to west on Wyoming Street, to north on South 10th Street, to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

The $18.5 million project includes replacing the bridge deck, constructing new alcoves, repairing bridge piers, reconstructing the roadway approaches, installing new ornamental lighting, concrete curbing, concrete sidewalk, protective fencing, pavement markings, and signs.

The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2016. All schedules are subject to change. IEW Construction Group, Inc. of Trenton, New Jersey is the general contractor.
