Sixth Annual Blues Brews & Barbecue Lineup Announced
The musical line-up is set for Allentown’s Sixth Annual Blues, Brews & Barbecue Festival to take place on Saturday, June 8, 2013. This free event, presented by the City of Allentown and Hamilton District Main Street Program, fills Hamilton Street with delicious creations and blues sensations. Activities for the whole family create the unique energy only a street festival can emanate.

Blues, Brews & Barbecue expanded its lineup last year to feature national acts in addition to the best in Lehigh Valley blues musicians. The event was tremendously successful as a result – attracting an estimated more than 7,500 people. While creating the lineup for 2013 organizers continued with the format that fans enjoyed so much.

This year’s event will be headlined by the Nick Moss Band of Chicago, whose namesake learned from legends like Jimmy Dawkins and Jimmy Rogers, and the Alexis P. Suter Band of New York. The Alexis P. Suter Band is in demand for blues festivals across North America from British Columbia to South Carolina. Beloved Lehigh Valley Blues artists who will take the stage include: the James Supra Blues Band, BC Combo. April Mae and the June Bugs and the Christopher Dean Band of New Jersey, Midnight Shift of Perkasie and Friar’s Point of Kutztown will also delight the audience. Sarah Ayers will perform as a special guest during the Christopher Dean Band’s set. Mayor Ed Pawlowski will demonstrate his skills on the drum during the latter part of the day as well.

Schedule of Entertainment
Noon to 12:50 – April Mae & the June Bugs
1:00 to 1:50 – Friar’s Point
2:00 to 2:50 – Midnight Shift
3:00 to 3:50 – Christopher Dean Band
4:15 to 5:30 – James Supra Blues Band

Another important component of the day, the abundant menu, is as impressive as ever for 2013: food vendors are slated to offer everything from tri-tip steak sandwiches and brisket to blooming onions and even pulled pork cupcakes! Vendors registered to date include: Allentown Brew Works, Aw Shucks, Bull & Bear, Fat Boys House of BBQ, Grumpy’s Bar-B-Que Roadhouse, Phil’s French Fries, Roosevelt's 21st, Trixie’s Treats and Wholy Chipotle. There are just a few food vendor spots left. Interested parties should contact City of Allentown Special Events Manager Tara Craig to register no later than May 10th.

“Seeing this event evolve over the past five years speaks volumes about events as part of the community and local economy. Blues brings scores of people to the heart of our city, showcases local talent and connects barbecue lovers to the creators transforming Hamilton into a hub of summer fun. The event continues to grow exponentially amid the renaissance of our downtown. We’re grateful to everyone who has had a part in making it grow,” said Craig.

The City of Allentown and Hamilton District Main Street Program appreciate the support of sponsors like: Boyle Construction, the County of Lehigh, Cedar Crest College, RCN, The Morning Call, WDIY, WFMZ and others whose contributions make community events like these possible.

Sponsorships for Blues, Brews & Barbecue and other events are still available.
