The Allentown Police Department and Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting joint patrols in the city this summer. Operations began last night and will continue on different dates throughout the summer.
The proactive patrols will focus on deterring crime withion the city and with enmphasis on confiscating drugs and illegal guns,
APD has already taken dozens of guns off the street through the first four-and-a-half-months of the year.
"Troopers are proud to serve and always willing to assist anywhere within the Commonwealth when requested," said Captain Joseph Sokolofski, Commanding Officer of Troop M based in Bethlehem.
APD Chief Glenn Granitz Jr. said "Both troopers and city officers will collectively work together for a safer Allentown for both residents and business owners alike."
