Allentown Vision 2030 – Your City, Your Voice! is the city’s new Comprehensive and Economic Development Plan that charts a path for inclusive, equitable growth over the next 10 years. The plan addresses the topics of housing, workforce development, economic opportunity, social equity, environment and conservation, community development, transportation, land use, historic preservation, open space, and a range of other areas that affect the quality of life and vibrancy of the city of Allentown.

“Allentown Vision 2030 is truly a collaborative effort,” said Mayor Ray O’Connell. “Some 2,000 of our Allentown community members have participated in the planning process over the past several months and shared their ideas and opinions to create this draft plan.

Leonard Lightner, Director of Community and Economic Development said, “We are very excited to present the Allentown Vision 2030 draft plan that is a result of more than ten months of community engagement and participation. Over the next 45 days we look forward to hearing the community’s feedback!”

Community engagement and empowerment is the highest priority for Allentown Vision 2030. The Bureau of Planning & Zoning wants to engage with all residents across the city.

Hard copies of the draft Allentown Vision 2030 Plan are available at the Community Engagement Hub open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. and located at 33 N 6th St (corner of 6th and Linden streets) in downtown Allentown. Hard copies of the draft plan are also available upon request by visiting the Bureau of Planning & Zoning counter located on the 4th Floor of Allentown City Hall (435 Hamilton St, Allentown PA 18101).

Allentown Vision 2030 “Learning Lunches” will be held at the Community Engagement Hub on Wednesdays from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. through the end of October to go over the plan’s chapters and break down plan details. The “Learning Lunch” sessions begin on Wednesday, September 18.

Open houses will be held at the Hub on Tuesday, October 1 from 5:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 19 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

The public can submit comments using an online form available at www.AllentownVision2030.org or by email at Vision2030@allentownpa.gov and via paper forms available at the Allentown Vision 2030 Community Engagement Hub and Allentown City Hall.

The public comment period closes on Thursday, October 31, 2019. Upon the conclusion of the public comment period, city staff will review and respond to all public comments. A final draft of the Allentown Vision 2030 Comprehensive and Economic Development Plan is expected to be brought to Allentown City Council for adoption in late 2019.

The City of Allentown has engaged the consultant teams of Fourth Economy, evolveEA and Faces International in an innovative approach to create a plan that reflects the community’s priorities and provides a clear and achievable implementation strategy.
