The pool was closed on Friday, July 12 as a result of overnight vandalism.

Vandals threw park picnic tables and trash receptacles as well as an oily substance into the pool. A city crew used absorbing pads on the surface of the water to remove the film and scrubbed down pool walls.

City police are investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, it is hoped that Cedar Beach Pool can re-open Tuesday, July 16.

Delivery of a 25hp motor to replace the main pool motor irreparably damaged by a broken pump house water pipe is expected Monday. The re-opening is dependent on the installation of the motor and satisfactory water quality test results.
