Capitol Christmas Tree Coming to Allentown
Allentown residents are invited to join Santa Claus and Mack the Bulldog to see the 88-foot U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree when it stops Saturday, November 23 at the Mack Trucks Customer Center from 5pm-7pm. The center is located at 2402 Lehigh Parkway South.

Mack Trucks is transporting the tree from the Colville National Forest in Washington to the U.S. Capitol lawn on a custom-decorated MACK® Pinnacle™.

Mack Trucks is a sponsor of the 2013 Capitol Christmas Tree tour and has provided two Mack Pinnacle model trucks to transport the tree and 100 companion trees that will decorate the U.S. Capitol.

The 2013 Engelmann spruce tree was harvested near Usk, Washington on November 1 and is making 24 stops in cities nationwide, marking the journey with community celebrations along the way. It will arrive in Washington, DC on November 25. There, it will be decorated with 10,000 LED lights. The date for the lighting ceremony will be announced by Speaker of the House John Boehner.

The tradition of the Capitol Christmas Tree began in 1964. The first tree was a live Douglas fir that came from Buddies Nursery in nearby Birdsboro, Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Persons unfamiliar with the Mack Trucks Customer Center location are advised to enter the address of 11 Grammes Road, Allentown, PA 18103 into their GPS to lead them to the location and follow signs to the Mack Customer Center.
