Recycling Wins Top Parade Honor

The City of Allentown Bureau of Recycling & Solid Waste’s float “It’s easy to be green….. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!” captured 1st Place in yesterday’s eight division Allentown St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The float was the work of bureau staff members Kristin Baringer, Elaine Bueno, Freddie Bamboo, Luis Rosario, Tony Hollowell, Derick Brown, John Rivero, Eric Trobetsky and Jed McKinney. The float was driven by Rivero and was manned by staff members Brittney Chuyko, Gabrielle Heiney and Baringer.

Single Stream Scottie was on the float waving to parade attendees.

Shamrocks on the float were made from recycled cardboard.

The 61st annual parade was attended by thousands. It started at The Allentown Fairgrounds, 19th & Liberty Streets; proceeding north on 19th to Tilghman Street, west on Tilghman to 25th St., south on 25th St. to Liberty St., and east on Liberty Street returning to the Fairgrounds.
