Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski and Police Chief Keith Morris are inviting the youth of the city to a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, September 17 from 6pm-8pm at Overlook Park Community Center at 445 Hanover Avenue. Middle and high school youths are urged to attend.
The meeting is dedicated toward facilitating open, honest dialogue with the youth of the city in order to establish understanding, mutual respect and trust.
The meeting will include remarks by Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Police Chief Keith Morris., Youth Division Sergeant Bill Williams and Union Baptist Church Youth Minister Knoxley Samms.
Plans call for attendees to then break into small groups with members of the police department, including school resource officers, to ask questions and discuss how to continue to build positive relationships and effective practices utilizing the voices in the community. Volunteers will take notes from the smaller sessions and then report back during for a wrap-up session.
The Town Hall Meeting will be facilitated by Allentown Police Department Youth Division Detective Luiz Garcia.
Light refreshments will be served.
