King of the Court Registration

The Allentown Department of Parks & Recreation’s fall King of the Court basketball program will be offered from October 4 to November 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Mondays in the South Mountain Middle School gym and Wednesdays in the Trexler Middle School gym. This free eight-week basketball fundamentals program is offered to boys in 5th through 8th grade that attend school in Allentown. 

In its inaugural in person session, the King of the Court program is an opportunity to learn the skills of basketball in a relaxed, fun, and friendly environment.  Pre-registration is required at Parents will need to create an account, receive approval, and then register their child before the start of the program. The program will follow Pennsylvania Department of Health and CDC guidelines to make activities as safe and fun as possible for all participants.

“Modeled after the highly successful Queen of the Court program, King of the Court brings a similar program to the boys,” said Mayor Ray O’Connell.  “Our high school boys basketball programs have a long history of success, and it begins by teaching fundamentals to elementary and middle school children.”

“This is an excellent way to not only learn fundamentals of basketball, but also life skills, team-building and enhance self-esteem,” said Karen El-Chaar, Director of Parks and Recreation.

South Mountain Middle School is located at 709 W. Emmaus Ave. Allentown, PA 18103.  The entrance to the gymnasium is on Church St. Trexler Middle School is located at 851 N. 15th St. Allentown PA 18102. All visitors must use the main entrance.
