Halloween Parade Cancelled; Trick or Treat on October 30
The 2020 Allentown Halloween Parade scheduled for Sunday, October 11 is cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but Trick-or-Treat will be held in the city as scheduled.

Mayor Ray O’Connell said, “Allentown’s Halloween Parade is an outstanding tradition that showcases the talent and enthusiasm in our community, but it would be impossible to socially distance all the participants and stay within outdoor event crowd limitations. Hopefully we will be able to put on a spectacular show next year.”

Trick-or-Treat night in Allentown is Friday, October 30 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Participating residents are asked to keep their porch light on.

The Allentown Health Bureau makes the following recommendations to help protect against COVID-19…
• Leave treats outside your door instead of handing out candy to minimize interaction
• Make sure children take and eat only pre-packaged candy
• Instead of answering your door, sit outside to greet people, maintaining 6-foot social distancing
• Use hand sanitizer and remember to wear masks when in close proximity to others and/or in indoor spaces
Children also are encouraged to limit Trick or Treat visits to their immediate neighborhood and inform family members of their planned route to aid contact tracers in the event someone should contract COVID-19.

Additional guidance may be forthcoming from the CDC in the weeks ahead.
