Jordan Creek Greenways Trail

The project involves construction of a 1.9 mile long section of the Jordan Creek Greenway Trail for walking and bicycling between Turner Street and MacArthur Road. The trail will connect Jordan Park West, Jordan Park, and Jordan Meadows park to Center City Allentown. The proposed 10-foot wide paved multi-use path mostly follows the west side of Jordan Creek from the intersection of West Turner Street and North Jordan Street, north to and through Jordan Park, ending at MacArthur Road near the intersection with North 6th Street Extension. The trail includes approximately 1.6 miles of off road shared use path and 0.3 mile of shared roadway and sidewalk improvements. The shared roadway section along North Meadow Street from Tilghman Street to Sumner Avenue will include shared lane pavement markings, regulatory and directional signage as well as closing gaps in sidewalk and sidewalk reconstruction. Also, the existing crushed stone path within Jordan Park will be paved. Other improvements included in the project include pedestrian scale lighting, improvement of roadway lights along the path route, custom trail signing, ADA ramp upgrades, and rectangular rapid flashing beacon signals for safer trail crossings at Gordon Street and Sumner Avenue. Construction started in January 2022 and has an estimated completion date of November 2022.
