The following schedule outlines the planned phases for the Realignment and Center Square Project. All dates are subject to change based on weather and field conditions.

Pre-Construction Activities

  Site preparation, mobilization, layout, and exploratory pipe locating.

Construction Phases

• Phase 1 – NW Corner (PPL Center)
  April 27 – May 21, 2026
• Phase 2 – SW Corner (702 Hamilton St)
  May 21 – June 12, 2026
• Phase 3 – NE Corner (2 City Center / 645 Hamilton St)
  June 10 – August 5, 2026
• Phase 5 – Linden St & 7th St (West Corners)
  July 15 – August 7, 2026
• Phase 4 – SE Corner (County Building and Vault)
  July 31 – October 5, 2026
• Phase 6 – Final Paving (Full Project Length)
  September 22 – November 6, 2026

Hamilton Street Streetscape (600–700 Block)

• Start Date: May 11, 2026
• Duration: Approximately 70 working days

This work will be coordinated with the realignment and plaza improvements to maintain consistent traffic patterns.

Traffic Closures and Impacts

Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Lane and parking restrictions will be in place throughout the duration of the project.
• Additional updates will be provided as each phase progresses.

Phase 1 – Lane Closures

• Hamilton Street:
  South lane closure westbound from 7th Street (in front of the PPL Center)
• 7th Street:
  West lane closure southbound through the Hamilton Street intersection

LCA work is as follows for the week of July 27th water service renewals

• July 27th - 924 23rd Street between West Livingston Street and West Greeleaf Street will be closed
• July 28th - 218 South West Street between West Union Street and West Fairview Street will be closed
• July 29th - 918 Susquehanna Street between South 9th Street and South Melrose Street will have one lane open with traffic control
• July 30th - 901 South Poplar Street between Saint John Street and West Wyoming Street will be closed

Starting on Monday July 27th through Friday July 31st from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Front Street from Riverside Drive to Gordon Street / Pump Place will be closed for PPL to repair the electric distribution system that was damaged from the fire at 301 North Front Street.

On July 28th and July 29th from 8:00am to 4:00pm, LCA will be working on a waterline at the intersection of North 12th Street and Emmett Street which will require a road closure of North 12th Street from Chew Street to Turner Street.

PennDOT will be continuing work at the intersection of South 4th Street and Susquehanna Street that will require a closure of Susquehanna Street (South 5th Street) traveling west from South 4th Street.
