The shelter-in-place advisory has been lifted following a hazardous materials incident at the Lehigh County Authority (LCA) Water Treatment Plant on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The City of Allentown has lifted a precautionary shelter-in-place order following a hazardous materials incident at the Lehigh County Authority (LCA) Water Treatment Plant on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The shelter-in-place was a precautionary advisory for residents and individuals within a half-mile radius of the plant.

The order was issued out of an abundance of caution as emergency responders assessed the situation and ventilated the building. Shifting wind conditions prompted officials to adjust the designated affected area during the incident.

Although the shelter-in-place has been lifted, crews still remain on scene as cleanup continues. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive remains closed to traffic from South 10th Street to South 15th Street.
