The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Cold Warning. Dangerously cold wind chills as low as -20 degrees are expected. A Wind Advisory, is also in effect with winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
If you can, it is best to limit exposure and only go outside if necessary. If you must go outside, dress in layers including a hat, face mask and gloves. Frostbite can occuer in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Do not venutre out onto ice, it may not be as frozen as you may think and not be able to support you. Falling in can lead to hypothermia within minutes.

While warming your home, use a space heater safely. Keep it atleast 3 feet away from anything flammable and never leave it unattended. Never useovens or stoves for heating. Do not use kerozene or propane heaters indoors. Prevent frozen pipes by letting faucets drip and insulating exposed pipes.
In the event of a power outage, PPL Electric recommends avoiding using a candle for lighting because they can start fires and to use flashlights instead. Avoid opening your refrigerator and freezer as much as possible. Unplug sensitive home electronics. Turn off ovens and space heaters that may have been off when the outage occurred.
