Notice is hereby given that the City of Allentown has completed its first draft of the Annual Action plan as required by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development to determine the types of projects that will benefit city residents. Part of the planning process involves outreach to citizens for input on housing, economic development, and public service needs across the city. Citizen participation is important and will help determine the goals and outcomes for the 2026 program year, which runs January 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.
A 30-day public comment period for the draft Annual Action Plan will begin April 20, 2026, and will conclude on June 1, 2026. The purpose of the public hearings is to discuss the U.S Housing and Urban Development Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) programs in general, the needs of the city of Allentown that are eligible uses under these funding sources, and the city’s proposed scope of projects for this funding year. The public is invited to participate in a hearing on the draft 2026 Annual Action Plan. The city strongly encourages Allentown residents, particularly, low to moderate income individuals and families to provide comments to the Annual Action plan and participate in the public hearings listed below.
The City of Allentown will hold two public hearings. The first hearing will be on May 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. to discuss housing and community development needs, strategies, and actions for affirmatively furthering fair housing. The second hearing will be held on May 20, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. to discuss public service needs and a review of program performances. Both hearings will be held in person at Allentown City Hall, Third Floor, located at 435 Hamilton Street Allentown, PA 18101. Those in need of translation assistance should call 610-437-7761 in advance to make necessary arrangements.
All interested citizens are encouraged to attend these public hearings to present oral or written testimony concerning the Annual Action Plan for FY 2026.
