Allentown residents now have a tree-mendous opportunity to share their thoughts on the city’s urban forest! The City has launched an online survey to gather community input for the Urban Forestry Master Plan and a public meeting will be held to discuss the plan and further gather feedback.
Allentown residents now have a tree-mendous opportunity to share their thoughts on the city’s urban forest! The City has launched an online survey to gather community input for the Urban Forestry Master Plan (UFMP), and residents are encouraged to participate before it closes in mid-February.
In addition, a community meeting will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026 from 6-7:30 p.m. in Allentown City Council Chambers to discuss the plan and gather feedback. Representatives from theDepartments of Parks and Recreation and Public Works, along with their consulting team from Davey Resource Group (DRG), will present information and host an interactive discussion. Attendees can share ideas about planting, caring for, and enjoying trees throughout Allentown.
“Developing an Urban Forestry Master Plan will help identify the tools the City can use to strengthen our urban canopy across all neighborhoods,” said Veronika Vostinak, City of Allentown Sustainability Coordinator. “This plan will guide how we grow and care for our trees to help cool our city, clean the air, and support improved mental and physical health, while creating a healthier, more beautiful place to live.”
The UFMP project includes:
• Conducting a comprehensive inventory of the city’s trees.
• Creating a long-term vision for tree planting, care, and canopy growth.
• Identifying specific policies, programs, and projects to improve the urban forest.
Residents can take the 10-minute survey. The survey is anonymous, voluntary, and all questions are optional. Responses will guide UFMP and help shape future tree planting and care initiatives.
