The City of Allentown is excited to announce a new partnership with the Allentown Parknership, the City’s charitable partner for Parks and Recreation, to support its popular Monday Funday program, bringing additional resources, healthy food options, and expanded community offerings at parks across the city from May through October.
The investment from the Parknership will help the City build on the momentum from a successful program in 2025 that brought neighbors together, connected neighborhoods and created more opportunities for recreation close to home. More than 1,000 children and families are expected to participate in 2026.
The financial resources from the Parknership will provide recreational supplies and equipment to further enrich activities for families, healthy snacks for participating children (many of whom come directly from after-school programs and practices), and a special community-building cookout and celebration at the final Monday event at each location.
Monday Funday is a free, family-friendly series held at six parks across Allentown, offering a rotating schedule of active places, wellness activities, and community nights. Designed for all ages, the program encourages residents to get outdoors, connect with neighbors, and enjoy safe, engaging programming in parks close to their homes throughout the summer and early fall.
“I see every day how powerful our parks can be when we meet people where they are. Partnerships like this allow us to remove barriers and bring meaningful resources like healthy food, safe recreation, and supportive programming directly into our neighborhoods,” said Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation Deputy Director Lucinda Wright. “By investing in accessible, community-centered programs like Monday Funday, we’re not just creating fun experiences; we’re strengthening connections, promoting wellness, and ensuring that every child and family can prosper right in their local park.”
“The Parknership is proud to support Parks and Recreation’s vision by investing in programming like Monday Funday, helping create meaningful and memorable park experiences for residents of all ages,” said Allentown Parknership Executive Director Ruffian Tittmann.
