Allentown City Council is beginning the process required under the City’s Home Rule Charter to fill the vacancy in the Office of City Controller.

Following the recent passing of City Controller Jeff Glazier, Allentown City Council is beginning the process required under the City’s Home Rule Charter to fill the vacancy in the Office of City Controller.

Council recognizes that this process comes during a time of mourning for many throughout the City. Jeff served Allentown with integrity, humility, and deep care for the community, and his legacy of public service will not be forgotten.

Pursuant to Section 405 of the Home Rule Charter, City Council is accepting applications for a vacancy in the Office of City Controller through the close of business on Monday, June 15, 2026.

Applicants must submit a resume and a statement describing the reasons they would bring value to the City of Allentown as City Controller. Applications submitted for consideration will be public documents.

In accordance with Council Rules, the individual appointed must be a qualified voter and a member of the Democratic Party, the same political party as Controller Glazier, and must have been affiliated with that party for at least 30 days prior to the vacancy.

City Council will conduct a public meeting to review qualified applicants and interview candidates before voting at a public meeting to appoint an interim City Controller.
