CITY OF ALLENTOWN
CDBG NOTICE OF FUNDING AVAILABILITY
JANUARY 1, 2027 – DECEMBER 31, 2027
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the City of Allentown’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program will release funding applications for the 2027 Program Year.
The City anticipates receiving approximately $2,353,190.00 in CDBG, $211,082.00 in ESG, and $1,034,731.26 in HOME funds for the 2026 Community Block Grant Program Year. Approximately $1,529,000 in CDBG funds will be available to community-based organizations for capital improvement and non-public service projects; approximately $352,000 will be available to community-based organizations for public service projects. Approximately $126,000 will be available to shelter services and $68,000 for rapid rehousing services. Approximately $155,000 in HOME funds for CHDO activities and $776,000 for HOME eligible activities. Application instructions outline the eligible types of activities for CDBG, ESG, and HOME funding. Successful applications will address significant needs within the City and must meet the qualifications outlined in the application guidelines. Applications will be released on September 1, 2026, and must be submitted by Friday November 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
A 30-day public comment period will begin September 1, 2026, and will conclude on November 6, 2026. Written comments may be sent to Teri Dakuginow, Grants Manager, Allentown City Hall, 435 Hamilton Street, Third Floor, Allentown, PA 18101 or by email at grants@allentownpa.gov.
The City of Allentown will hold two public hearings on October 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. and October 14, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Hearings will be held on the third floor of City Hall, 435 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101. Time will be provided to any applicant who wants to share their program details. Those in need of translation assistance should call 610-437-7761, in advance to make necessary arrangements.
