Known as Epiphany or Theophany, this Christian feast commemorates the revelation of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and marks the end of the festive "12 Days of Christmas." From Spain to Chile to Mexico, it honors the journey of the Three Wise Men—Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthazar—to present gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to baby Jesus. In Puerto Rico and other Latin American countries, before children go to sleep on January 5, they leave a box with hay under their beds so the kings will leave good presents.
