Volunteers Needed

Has there been a time when you looked around your neighborhood and asked yourself, "I wish this neighborhood looked cleaner". With Keep Allentown Beautiful, you can help beautify your neighborhood in a few easy steps.

1. Pick a date and commit to it mentally.
2. Choose a few areas that you feel need to be cleaned
3. Spread the word
4. Ask neighbors or residents in the area that’s going to be cleaned to participate.

Did you know that the Department of Recycling and Solid Waste will provide community cleanups with cleaning supplies? If you are planning a cleanup, call 610-437-8729 or email Kristin.baringer@allentownpa.gov to request supplies.

City of Allentown employees also work year round to clean up litter. The Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste cleans litter and trash from sidewalks, and empties litter baskets. The Bureau of Streets sweeps streets and collects leaves. The Bureau of Parks keeps City parks and many other areas clean. Other City bureaus, such as Health and Code Enforcement, also contribute to cleaning up littered properties and enforce related ordinances. Lehigh County Juvenile Probation and Allentown Police Department community service crews provide year-round litter cleanup.
