Juneteenth Celebration

The 2023 Juneteenth Celebration in Allentown will be held Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Cedar Beach Park.

The City's weekend-long celebration is thanks to a 3-day Juneteenth Basketball Tournament that runs from June 16 though June 18. Vendors will be at Cedar Beach Park all weekend. Free yoga classes will also be available Friday through Sunday. 

Friday, June 16

Opening ceremonies, yoga, and vendors in the park that were promoted to take place Friday, June 16 are cancelled due to the weather forecast. 

The opening ceremonies will now occur Saturday, June 17. Friday’s basketball tournament will be moved indoors to William Allen and Dieruff High Schools, and will be played from 3 to 9 p.m. At this time, all activities for Saturday and Sunday will take place as scheduled.

Saturday, June 17 (Rain Date: Sunday, June 18)

Basketball Tournament: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Flag Football Tournament: 9 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. at J. Birney Crum

Free Swim lessons: 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. sessions

Free Pool Access as capacity allows: 12 - 7 p.m. 

Yoga in the Park: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Vendors in the Park: 1 - 9 p.m.

Opening Ceremonies, Juneteenth Pageant Coronation & Ceremony: 5 - 6 p.m. at the Main Stage

Entertainment all day feat. DJ Prince Hakim and Basketball DJ Swift Adames

Fireworks: 9:15 p.m.

Sunday, June 18

Basketball Tournament: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Vendors at the Park: 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Yoga in the Park: 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.

Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. Allentown will hold a flag raising ceremony at City Hall to commemorate Juneteenth on June 11 at 1 p.m.
