Clean Snow from Sidewalks

The City of Allentown is reminding property owners of the responsibility to clear snow from their properties.

City ordinance requires the removal of snow and ice from at least a three foot wide area from the sidewalk or footway within 10 hours after the end of the storm.

City ordinance also forbids the throwing of snow upon the right of way of any street or into the travel lane of any street.

City ordinance also bans the placing of any item into the street to save shoveled or cleared parking spaces.

Violations may result in a SWEEP ticket fine of $25/$100 or a citation may be filed with the District Magistrate where the fine cannot exceed $600.00 plus court costs.

Complaints may be filed on the City of Allentown 311 App, or by calling the Department of Public Works at 610-437-7596. Persons observing someone throwing or plowing snow into the street are asked to call the Allentown Police non-emergency number at 610-437-7751.
