Halloween Parade Award Winners Announced

An estimated crowd of 10,000 spectators enjoyed a mix of sun and clouds, floats, bands and marchers during Sunday’s 2017 Allentown Halloween Parade!

The parade, believed to be the oldest in the nation, was full of aliens, UFOs and space ships adhering to this year’s theme, “Outer Space Invasion.”

A panel of judges evaluated participants in two categories: Floats and Marchers. Parade judges were City Council member Cynthia Mota and Board of Recreation members Hugh Gallagher and Hamp Smith. Judging criteria included presentation, creativity, enthusiasm, and fitting the theme.

Winners in the Floats category are:

1st Place Kory Rabenold Productions
2nd Place The Neighborhood Center
3rd Place Cub Scout Pack 146

Winners in the Marchers category are:

1st Place Boston Terriers of the Lehigh Valley
2nd Place Lehigh Valley Roller Derby
3rd Place Barry Paulus as Praying Mantis

Winners receive monetary prizes.

Dance and performance groups HALA, XCAPE, and Small Steps, Big Dreams and marching bands receive a stipend for participating.

Parade spectators and participants are encouraged to use the facebook and twitter tag “#hallentownparade” to post their pictures from Sunday’s parade.
