The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) is recognizing the City of Allentown’s 2017 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) with a Certificate of Achievement.

According to a letter to Mayor Ray O’Connell dated March 1, 2019 from GFOA Director, Michele Mark Levine, the Certificate of Achievement “is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.” This marks at least the 17th consecutive year that the city’s CAFR has been so recognized.

The 2017 report was completed in June of 2018 and was presented to City Council in August by Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC, Certified Public Accountants of Jamison, Pennsylvania.
