The City of Allentown will push back the scheduled closing dates of Mack and Jordan pools and will close Cedar Pool for the season due to flooding.

Mack Pool, originally scheduled to close on Friday, August 17, will now be open daily through Friday, August 24 and Jordan Pool, originally scheduled to close on Saturday, August 25, will be open daily through Labor Day, Monday, September 3.

The new closing dates are prompting some other schedule changes.

The Doggie Dip at Mack Pool will be held on Saturday, August 25 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm. The Parks & Recreation Department’s Doggie Dip events are an opportunity to bring man’s best friend to the pool to cool off during the dog days of summer. Cost per dog is $4.00 for City of Allentown Residents and $6.00 for Non Residents. Proof of Residency is required to receive the Resident Rate.

All dogs must have a valid 2018 License and be up to date on all vaccinations. One handler in the pool per dog is recommended and any aggressive animals will be asked to exit the event. Monetary or dry pet food donations on behalf of the Lehigh County Humane Society will be accepted and appreciated.

The Movies in the Park series showing of Secret Life of Pets, scheduled for Saturday, August 18 at Mack Pool, is postponed to a later date.

Floodwater from Cedar Creek flowed into Cedar Pool on Saturday, August 4 and again on Monday, August 13. The pool was closed for six days after the August 4 flooding while it was drained, cleaned, re-filled and re-treated. The city has now decided to drain, clean, winterize and refill the pool.

City pools, Bucky Boyle Park and Old Fairgrounds Playground Spray Parks are open daily from 12:00pm to 7:00pm.
