Safety Tips

A good question to ask yourself before calling 9-1-1 is, “Could someone’s life or property be saved or could a criminal be caught more easily if I called now instead of waiting a few hours?” If the answer is “yes”, then call 9-1-1. If it is “no” then call 610-437-7751 to report what you observed.

  • Report suspicious activity or a crime in progress to 9-1-1 as soon as you are in a safe, secure location.
  • DO NOT attempt to approach or confront anyone you don’t know. Contact 9-1-1
  • Always lock your car doors and take your keys.
  • Do not leave ANY personal belongings visible in your vehicle.
  • Even a phone charger or some loose change may alert a would-be thief that there may be more things of value in the car.
  • Never leave a weapon in your vehicle.
  • When possible park in a well lighted location
  • Install a security system in your car.
  • Install lockable lug nuts on your vehicle to prevent theft of the wheels and tires.
  • Lock the doors and windows of your home or place of business.
  • Install security lighting at your home or place of business.
  • Keep hedges and vegetation trimmed so criminals cannot hide behind them.
  • Consider installing a security system.
  • Most security systems automatically contact you when an alarm is triggered or they can be set to contact the police or fire departments immediately in the event the alarm is set off.
  • Don’t answer your door unless you know who is there.
  • When arriving home drive slowly past your house one time to observe people or vehicles that may present a threat.
