In the interest of public health, the city of Allentown is closing all city-owned and maintained sports fields until further notice.

The city of Allentown Recycling Drop Off Center at 1400 Martin Luther King Jr. reopened late this morning.

Eleven new firefighters will be on the job in the Allentown Fire Department.

The city of Allentown Recycling Drop Off Center at 1400 Martin Luther King Jr. remains closed today while crews clean the grounds and technicians assess flood water damage to an on-site electrical panel.

The American Red Cross is mobilized across multiple counties, including Lehigh, to assist those impacted by the severe weather and flooding brought to the area by Tropical Storm Isaias.

Allentown Municipal Golf Course will reopen on Thursday, August 6 at 1:00 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5 the Little Lehigh Creek had fallen below flood stage near Allentown at 4.34 feet.

As of 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, in the city of Allentown Walnut Street from Lafayette Street to St Elmo Street remains closed due to damage caused by Tuesday’s creek flooding.

A dedication ceremony was held this morning for the "Welcome to Allentown" mural at the PPL substation at 120 S 8th Street.
