Projects Slow Traffic

Road projects in the city of Allentown will affect traffic on the Eighth Street Bridge and portions of MLK Drive and Hamilton, Sixth and Linden streets this week.  

 

The contractor on the Eighth Street Bridge construction project in the city of Allentown will be continuing with intermittent daily closures this week through Friday, March 25 from 9am to 3pm weather permitting for installation of downspouts.

 

Flaggers will also be restricting traffic on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at Eighth Street through Tuesday, March 22 between 9am and 3pm to install downspouts on the pier adjacent to Little Lehigh Creek.

Hamilton Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic from Eighth Street to Ninth Street from 9pm to 7am beginning Monday, March 21. This lane closure will last approximately one week for PPL/Aldridge Electric to install a new vault at Hall Street. All work will be done during the night.

 

There will be two total closures of Hamilton Street from Eighth Street to Ninth Street. These closures will be on Thursday, March 24 and Friday, March 25 from 2am to 7am to set up a crane to install the new vault.

Sixth Street in the city of Allentown from Hamilton Street to Linden Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic on Monday, March 21 and Tuesday, March 22 from 7am to 4pm for building demolition.

Motorists in Allentown will experience one lane closures in various locations on Linden Street from Front Street to American Parkway for testing of newly installed electric lines by PPL/Aldridge Electric. The work begins on Monday, March 21 and will be ongoing for approximately one week. This work will be done from 7am to 4pm.
