Golf Course Reopens May 1
Allentown Municipal Golf Course and driving range will reopen on Friday, May 1.

The golf course closed last month to comply with Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf’s stay-at-home order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The governor announced Monday that certain restrictions are being lifted effective May 1, including those imposed on golf courses.

“We are really looking forward to the reopening,” said AMGC manager Jeff Wambold. “New rules will be in place to do everything we can so golfers will be safe.”

All the rules are available at www.allentowngolf.org.

Customers entering the Pro Shop must wear masks and will scan their own credit cards. There are no cash sales in the Pro Shop. All players must have a tee time to enter the Pro Shop unless they are purchasing a range ball card.

There is a limit of one occupant per cart.

All cups are inverted. It is not necessary for players to touch and remove the flagstick.

Golfers are required to maintain six feet social distancing at all times whether in the clubhouse, at the driving range or on the course.

Masks are encouraged, but golfers are not required to wear a mask while they play their round as long as they adhere to social distancing measures.

Golfers are urged to comply with all signage.

Golfers can check the Golf Course’s website www.allentowngolf.org for tee times, rates and season pass opportunities.

Strict rules for sanitizing golf carts and equipment at the driving range are being implemented.

Golf course restaurant Jack’s Slice will be developing a plan for future opening.

“We want everybody to be able to enjoy themselves,” Wambold said. “We know a lot of people are itching to get outside and we are working hard to be ready for them.”
