An isolated pocket of Spotted Lanternfly found in Allentown is cause for vigilance, not alarm, said Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding.

Allentown residents wondering when they can get access to the city’s yard waste site can now get that and other information from the Bureau of Recycling & Solid Waste’s new 24 hour Yard Waste Hotline.

The city of Allentown Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste is introducing its new mascot, Single Stream Scottie.

Today, April 22, is Earth Day, and it has a special meaning in Allentown. The city began its successful and award winning curbside recycling program on Earth Day 1990.

Volunteers from all sections of the city are encouraged to sign-up now to participate in Mayor Ed Pawlowski’s 10th Annual Great Allentown Cleanups.

The Allentown Yard Waste Site at 1401 Oxford Dr. (Oxford Drive and Fish Hatchery Road) will open to city residents for the 2016 season on Saturday, April 2.

The city of Allentown will resume trash collection Wednesday night, January 27, in the Center City zone and also in part of east Allentown.

On Thursday night, Christmas Eve, December 24 and Thursday night, New Year’s Eve December 31, there will be NO trash or recycling collection in the city of Allentown.

There will be NO trash or recycling collection on Thanksgiving night, Thursday, November 26.

The public is invited to celebrate America Recycles Day with the City of Allentown on Saturday, November 14 with family fun activities, arts and crafts, games, prizes and more!
