Schreiber’s Bridge at Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Lehigh Parkway East in the city of Allentown will be closed for approximately one week for repairs beginning Monday, October 9.

Project crews will begin work on a contract to repair the damaged wingwall, improve the handrails, and repair mortar spalling of the handrail parapets. The handrail and parapet repair work is expected to be completed within a week. The wingwall replacement work will be performed in the spring of 2018.

Schreiber’s Bridge and a portion of Lehigh Parkway East extending from MLK, Jr. Drive to Lehigh Parkway North will be closed to traffic while the bridge is being repaired. Motorists are encouraged to use the 15th Street Bridge in lieu of Schreiber’s Bridge for crossing of the Little Lehigh Creek.

The bridge repairs will be performed by Professional Construction Contractors, Inc. out of Easton, PA. The construction contract amount is $68,034.00. City funds are being used to repair the bridge.
