Fire Equipment Cools City Residents
The City of Allentown Fire Department is pitching-in to help city residents cope with the intense summer heat. The department will have fire equipment spraying water at two locations in the city.

A fire engine will be stationed at the Franklin Playground on Franklin Street between Chew and Turner streets from 1pm to 4pm today and from 5pm to 8pm. The engine will use a hydrant to spray the residents.

A second location at Second and Green streets will be handled by a second department vehicle utilizing a shower curtain off the hydrant.

Earlier today, Mayor Ed Pawlowski announced that entrance fees would be reduced at the city’s Cedar, Jordan, Mack and Irving pools for the duration of the Heat Advisory that was issued by the National Weather Service. The pools are open from 12pm until 7:00pm.
