Council Seeks Controller Applications

Allentown City Council is seeking applications for the position of City Controller.

Mary Ellen Koval resigned the position yesterday in a letter to Council President Ray O’Connell, members of council and Mayor Ed Pawlowski.

In the letter, Ms. Koval stated, “It has been my pleasure to serve as City Controller for the past four years. I feel that my resignation is in the best interests of the City of Allentown and its residents.”

Pursuant to the Charter and Council rules, City Council is accepting applications to fill the vacancy of City Controller through the close of the business day on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. The applications should be addressed to City Council and can be emailed or delivered to the Deputy Clerk at Tawanna.Whitehead@allentownpa.gov, 435 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18101. Applications should consist of a resume and a statement stating the reasons the applicant will bring value to the city as City Controller. The applications will be public documents. Applicants with questions may call the Council Office at 610-437-7539.

According to the City Charter, the successful candidate will serve until the next municipal election which is November 2017.
