The City of Allentown will hold an Open House on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 4:30pm to 6pm at the America on Wheels museum at 5 North Front Street to solicit input on the development of a city-wide Community Development Strategy. The goal of the Community Development Strategy is to improve the quality of life and economic vitality of city residents and the community as a whole.

Elements of the Community Development Strategy include streetscape and façade improvements, blight elimination, availability of affordable and safe housing, clean neighborhoods, business development, employment opportunities, youth engagement and healthy living, recreation, arts and cultural programs.

There will be no formal presentation at the event. Instead, it’s an opportunity for residents to offer ideas and opinions at their own pace, by going to stations that address the topics that most interest attendees, and asking questions directly of city employees. There will be display boards at each station where participants will have an opportunity to indicate their top priorities.
