The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced a project to upgrade traffic signals on Lehigh Street in the City of Allentown, Lehigh County, will begin on Monday, December 8.

Motorists may experience occasional lane restrictions while crews upgrade the signals and are advised to use caution when driving through the area. There will be no restrictions weekdays between 6 am and 9pm or 3pm and 6pm.

The traffic signal improvement project calls for traffic signal control system upgrades, new pedestrian signal heads and push buttons, emergency preemption systems, new signs and signal timing upgrades at 12 intersections on Lehigh Street between 8th and 31st streets in the City of Allentown.

The work is expected to be completed in August 2015.

Armour & Sons Electric, Inc. of Langhorne, Pa. is the general contractor on the $848,219 project.
