Halloween Parade Winners Announced

A terrific turnout, spooky decorations and fantastic performances marked the 2013 Allentown Halloween Parade which marched through the streets of the city on Sunday, October 20.

Nine divisions of marchers and floats made their way down Hamilton Street as an appreciative audience gathered curbside from the start of the parade at the Allentown Fairgrounds to the conclusion at Ninth & Hamilton streets.

High school marching bands and dance groups joined with other civic and professional organizations, auto clubs and floats to bring the streets of Allentown to life.  Many aspects of Allentown’s diverse community were showcased and celebrated through the variety of participants in this year’s parade.

The panel of judges recognized the following award winners…

 

Marching Bands

            1st Place           Freedom High School                                        $500.00

            2nd Place          Parkland High School                                        $300.00

            3rd Place           South Mountain Middle School                          $200.00

 

Floats

            1st Place           West End Youth Center                                     $500.00

            2nd Place           Mermaid Avalon and the Musical Ark                  $300.00

            3rd Place           1st Ward/6th Ward Neighborhood Assoc.             $200.00

 

Marchers

            1st Place           Bear Creek Equestrian Drill Team                       $300.00

            2nd Place          Nuttin’ But Luv Familia Bike Club                        $200.00

            3rd Place          St. Luke’s Neighborhood Center                         $100.00

 

 

DANCE GROUPS RECOGNIZED

                        XCAPE Dance Company

                        Small Steps Big Dreams Dance and Winter Guard

                        HALA (Hispanic American League of Artists)

 

Spectators were also treated to a special performance by the Allentown A’s Cheerleaders.
