CLOSING DAY of William Allen High School exhibition

ArtVentures in Art Ways Interactive Family Gallery
Kids and families can create original works of art together under the direction of a Museum educator upstairs in our Crayola Classroom, free. This month's theme is Exploring Origami,    and you can create works of art inspired by our newest exhibition Above the Fold.

12:30–2 p.m.
Artist-book workshop
Create a one-of-a-kind artist book with your kids that they can take home with them while you explore the aspects of the exhibitions Above the Fold: New Expression in Origami.
This afternoon’s workshop is geared toward children and families and will be led by printmaker, book artist, and poet MaryAnn Miller, who has been the resident book artist at the Experimental Printmaking Institute at Lafayette College, Easton, since 2001. Miller’s artist’s books are in the National Museum of Women in the Arts among other special collections. Her serigraphs are in the corporate portfolio at the Printmaking Center of New Jersey. Miller continues working on a group of monotypes on the themes of genetics and science and a new manuscript of poems about misdiagnoses.

These workshops are part of the Museum’s HeARThstone Project, supported through the generosity of the Harry C. Trexler Trust to help record the stories that make Allentown and its community unique. HeARThstone promotes literacy and creative thinking; develops critical thinking and 21st century skills; and encourages hands-on learning. It further demonstrates how artists make creative decisions while empowering participants as they create a handmade object that caries their personal voice into the world.

2 p.m.
